Robert J.M. Morris is a veteran of the international art scene having begun his career in Queensland Australia in the late sixties and early seventies as one of that county's vanguard wave of Abstract Painters. From there he went on to exhibit with his work in important shows throughout his native country and then on to England, Japan and Europe. After arriving in Cincinnati, he became one of the artists in the Over the Rhine studio known as Maintraum. Together with other accomplished artists of modern outlook, they shook up the rather staid art scene of the time. Later he opened The Dicere Gallery in Madisonville and in 2006 set up shop in Camp Washington with the second incarnation of the Dicere Gallery.
Robert creates works on a large to monumental scale which incompass the viewer in a spiritual dreamscape of form and color. Explains the artist: "I exist in time and space that is simultaneously material and spiritual. The material is my painting and space is the environment in which I work. Time moves me through this space to the next space or moment of existence. The spiritual is my inner self gaining understanding through the act of painting."
Robert has consistantly shown his work in significant exhibitions throughout the region and his sculptures and paintings are included in corporate, individual, and museum collections throughout the country.
