Dicere Gallery

The Dicere Gallery is located minutes from the Hopple St. exit of I-75 at 2853 Colerain Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45225 and can be reached by calling 513-541-3737 or emailing to dicere_gallery@fuse.net We are very easy to find. From downtown take I-75 north to the Hopple St. exit. and turn right off the exit ramp on to Hopple and then left at Colerain after the Shell station. Dicere is located two blocks down Colerain from there on the right side of the street as you go south. There is lots of on-street parking

Well, Bob and I have been busy with other stuff of late and have not yet planned any events for 2009. Quite honestly, things have been a little tough in the local art market. (I would imagine it's the same everywhere.) But you have to keep it out there, keep it going. So, look for Dicere Gallery to rise from the ashes soon. We've done so many great shows and have been honored to exhibit the work of so many talented artists. It would be a shame to see it come to an end.

Sometimes I think I must be on some sort of automatic pilot when it comes to doing art. I don't even question it anymore. I just keep doing it. But why? (Whoops: I'm questioning it.) The answer I guess is that people, exhibits, opportunities, etc. come along, things which make you want to keep making art. Both Bob and I were in the wonderful Kennedy Heights Arts Center's "Prelude 2009: The Human Spirit Revealed", an amazing exhibit curated by benefactress and super artist, Barbara S. Gamboa. Hopefully she will grace us with a one woman show at Dicere this year.

I have also been very fortunate to have become part of the Mental Health Arts Collaborative, a group of Mental Wellness professionals and Artists who have come together in order to fight the "stigma of mental illness". I was recently interviewed by Enquirer writer Peggy O'Farrell for a great article on the group's most recent project. The artists in the group were commissioned by the Cincinnati Art Museum to create art deriving inspiration from works we chose from the Museum's magnificant collection. Check out the link below if you want to read about it and some very...well, personal, maybe even too personal, information about me and my particular mental illness ("Clinical or Acute Depression", first diagnosed in 1988.)  and the impact it has made, for better or worse, on my life.
